Peguy is our Order Fulfillment and Butcher Shop Manager.  He has been such a blessing to our organization.  As we have said before, our goal is for New Roots to be Haitian run, and having Peguy on our side has brought us one GIANT step closer to this goal.  He is in charge of quality control, vacuum packing our meats, grinding the sausage, pork, and beef, and making hamburger patties, among many other responsibilities.  With him our crew can now do everything in the butcher shop except one small step without Nick present!  This is HUGE!  And that last step, well we’re working on that!

We recently sat down with Peguy and asked him about his role here at New Roots.  Here is what he had to say.

What do you Love about your job?

The thing I love most about my job is packaging.  I like to present the meat nice and clean so that the customers are happy.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

The most challenging part of my job is that I don’t know how to put my work on a computer yet.

What has working at New Roots done for you and your family?

Being a New Roots employee gives me opportunities to support my family. My family is very happy because I can support them.

What is the most important thing New Roots is doing in Chiron?

I love working at New Roots. I thank God for bringing Nick and his family to Chiron to start this great ministry. Many people in Chiron are already working here and some are able to support there family, and some are able to send there children to school because of New Roots.

So what is that one small step that Nick still has to be involved with?  It’s tracking orders.  Right now when orders come in, Nick enters them into the database, Peguy then fills the order and sends back the exact weights to Nick via text message to update and print off the receipts.  Once that is done

Peguy gives all the products and receipts to Tet to head out for delivery.  As you can imagine, we have to be able to fill orders without Nick present or our ministry will never be successful.  Nick is heading to a conference in November and we would LOVE if Peguy could be equipped to do this part of his role by then.  Peguy doesn’t have any experience with computers or tablets, but he’s smart, learns quickly, and is eager to do this on his own.

This is where you come in.  We are looking for gently used iPad (third generation or newer) or computer (ideally a a Mac, but a PC would work too). If you have an extra gently used device laying a round that you would like to donate, it would take our operations to the next level.  Contact Nick@NewRootsHaiti.org.

Thanks,

Nikki Stolberg
