When you choose to live your life on the mission field, you choose a life of vulnerability.  For Nick and I, the scariest part of starting our own Non Profit was the fear of fundraising.  This fear is the main reason we resisted going out on our own for so long.  It has only been three months since we became independent, but so far we are so blown away by the way God is providing for this new ministry and the support we have seen from our family and friends.

In September we began fundraising for Phase 2 which we have called “Raise the Farm.”  A fundraiser was held in Washington where we were able to raise more than $30,000 in one night.  Since then, more individuals and organizations have stepped out and faithfully supported the work New Roots is doing in Haiti.  Over the course of just a few weeks we have raised $65,629 towards Phase 2.  This is amazing for any organization, but for a new one, it is unheard of.

Nick and I can not tell you how excited we are to see our vision becoming a reality as we know its going to empower so many people in our community.  With the money that has come in so far, we have already been able to complete so much.  We have purchased 2 more acres of land, added on to our front perimeter wall, and have built all the walls of the brooder house.  We intend to have the brooder house finished in just 2 weeks and then we will officially purchase or first set of chicks, which will be ready just in time for Christmas and New Years celebrations!  Once the brooder house is finished, we will begin working on the Chicken tractors.

In the short time New Roots has been operating, we have already seen a ripple effect through out Northern Haiti.  This week we will show you some of the places that your money goes when you donate to New Roots.  100% of every donation is used to empower families here in Haiti.  Every gift of every size can make a lasting impact.  Thank you so much for your ongoing support over the past several months.
