One of the values that we push here on the farm is the concept that it takes ALL of us to make this happen. Each member of the farm provides a critical input needed to collectively benefit everyone. This means we have to trust each other, we collectively want everyone to succeed because each person’s success is dependent on their co workers. This might sound really basic and over simplified, but it cannot be more true. We are growing because our team is learning to trust one another. They are learning that collective success corresponds directly to individual success, and visa versa.
It has taken a few years to develop this team and we are so proud of them. Just check out what we plan to do this year:
Last year we produced 8,310 Chickens, or roughly an average of about 700 per month. We grew a few more thousand chickens than the year before. Due to the political instability that rocked the country last year, we are ecstatic to report any type of growth.
So many businesses and organizations had tough years, many have even had to close their doors due to the volatile market conditions. While we did not grow as much as we wanted to or had predicted, we were still able to surpass production during 2018. We have really high hopes for this year and hope to cross the 1,000 chickens
per month mark. 1000 chickens per month means more jobs!
Last year we butchered 3 cows. We currently have 9 already lined up to butcher during the first half of 2020!
We had two interns Fredlin and Vernius start last week since our production is back up. As of today we have just over 2,200 chickens on site, and will be ordering more soon.
The big project last year was the Feed Mill. My response when people ask how its going is that in 2019 we purchased 49,500 lbs corn. This is in only a few months, and with local farmers just starting to realize what we will actually be doing. Next year will easily be triple this amount.
Our goal is not to conquer the poultry industry. It is to create dignified job
s for men and women in our community. When we are producing, people are working. When people work, they are earning money to transform the lives of their families. Thank you for making 2019 a great year for the people in Haiti, whose lives are being transformed by our farm. Please continue to pray for our employees!
